ESSANAY FILM MANUFACTURING COMPANY
   In 1907 George M. “Broncho Billy” Anderson and George K. Spoor established Essanay Film Manufacturing Company, the first major film studio, in Chicago. Essanay went on to produce films of Charlie Chaplin, Gloria Swanson, Tom Mix, Broncho Billy, and many others. The company dissolved in 1916.
